Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2009
The 54th Annual Miss Puerto Rico Universe pageant was held at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum on October 22, 2008 in Hato Rey section of San Juan, Puerto Rico. A record of 70 contestants competed for the crown, in which the competition was televised live by WAPA-TV. On October 11, 2008, the show entered its final stage when twelve finalists elected by the public remained.〔 〕
Ingrid Rivera, who won the title of Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2008, crowned here successor Mayra Matos of Cabo Rojo as Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2009, who then represented Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2009〔(» Primera Hora )〕〔(Al Coliseo de Puerto Rico el certamen local de Miss Universo )〕 in Nassau, Bahamas.
